Time Lapse over 18 Months Options

hi All

I have been ask to do a time lapse of a building over 18 months starting next week. this is the equipment i will be using (but open to ideas)

Canon ESO 450D

Small note book computer

and external hard drive

My Problems :

I am doing in Qatar which means Dust and heat so i am housing it in a chilly bin (pics to be posted later date)

Data over load!!

where and tear on equipment over 1 and half years!!

any ideas to make this as smooth as posable would be greatly appreciated !!!

I know of another long term project using a 450D in Dubai.

There are some tips on doing long term time-lapse on our web site.

Scroll down to the section titled "Avoiding Errors".

Be sure to use an uninterruptible power supply for the camera and computer.
Set the camera to manual focus.
Check frequently to make sure everything is ok.
Unload your data so the drive won't fill up with images.
